When do teachers retire?

Teachers can retire after 40 years of service, as soon as they reach the age of 62; they must retire at the age of 65 at the latest.
However, since January 2011, with the introduction of the 1st Service Law Modernisation Act, a standard retirement age of 67 applies to all teachers born in 1964 or later. Retirement always begins at the end of the month after reaching the age limit.
