How is a company pension protected?

Entitlements from a company pension with deferred compensation cannot lapse by law. The entitlement to the benefit from the contributions paid is secured even in the event of a change of employer, as the employee himself/herself has paid the contributions for the old-age provision. Companies that offer a direct commitment for occupational pension provision are also protected by the insolvency protection of the Pensionssicherungsverein (PSV). If a member of the PSV becomes insolvent, it will continue to pay the guaranteed occupational pensions until all contracts have been fulfilled in full.
