What counts as additional income for pension purposes?

The following types of income are considered supplementary income by the German pension insurance:
Gross pay, taxable profit, such as income from a business or from agriculture and forestry, and comparable income, such as early retirement benefits.
If you receive a pension due to reduced earning capacity, sickness benefit and transitional allowance may also be regarded as additional earnings.
However, pensions from the GRV, company pensions or civil servant pensions as well as income from employment before the start of the pension are not considered additional income.
